Hi Hannah

Some great tips here and as someone who was a former FD, here are a few others I would add to the list.

If you were overspending against your budget how would you respond?

Tell me about a time when you had to deal with financial challenge?

If you were part of our team what could we rely on you for in terms of contribution to financial performance?

Thank you for the pointers. Working with independent coaches is effective enough if coaching is on a personal basis, i.e., one-to-one. Yes, I agree that it is best to look for a coaching company structured for managing on a "macro level". In both instances, chemistry between the coach and the coachee is still the most critical point for a coaching program to succeed.

Simply stated, if you source executive coaches pick those from a reputable coaching company. That company will provide you the right executive coach fit to your needs. Now, which company is that? Check with the International Coach Federation(ICF).

Interesting perspective on workplace abrasive folks and bullies. As an exec coach, and bully targets in my past, I try to not demonize these folks. That way I have more options. Most, but not all, are clueless about their behavior and are very defensive when challenged. They truly don't have the intention to harm. Some are well aware of their style and are self-interested in dominating and winning (usually your job or potential opportunities). This is most often in academic and medical situations where resources are scarce and competition is high.
All the best,
K

Very sound advice Hannah. I've been expressing these views to the younger cubs in my family and their friends, who have no concept of how this can affect them in the long term. Very good advice.
